Who is Melanie Martinez?

Melanie Martinez, from New York, came to wide attention on the third season of The Voice in 2012. Her debut album, Cry Baby (2015), follows the character of the same name, and K-12 (2019) came with a film she wrote and directed. The After School EP followed in 2020 and Portals in 2023.

How her tracker is organised

The community tracker lists 307 Melanie Martinez songs and versions, and a large share of what has surfaced is OG files — the original exported files, not rips. It opens with two EPs it says were never released: Take Me to the Moon, recorded in 2011, and an untitled EP it files as 2013 EP, set aside that year when she began working with the producers Kinetics & One Love on what became Dollhouse and Cry Baby.

One naming quirk matters when you browse. The era the tracker calls After School EP runs from that EP's release in 2020 to the deluxe edition of Portals in 2023, so it is where the Portals demos are — early versions of “MILK OF THE SIREN”, “FAERIE SOIRÉE”, “TUNNEL VISION” and more. The songs leading up to the After School EP itself are in an era it calls Imagen.

The eras worth knowing

Before Cry Baby

Take Me to the Moon (4 tracks) and 2013 EP (22 tracks) are the oldest material in the vault: the EP the tracker says she recorded in 2011, and the one it says she set aside in 2013.

Cry Baby: the deepest era

Cry Baby (65 tracks) is the deepest era in the vault, and the tracker lists 105 entries for it — the sessions from 2013 to the album's release in August 2015. Most of the tracker's grails, below, come from it.

K-12, Imagen and the After School EP

K-12 (15 tracks) runs from 2015 to 2017, when the K-12 tracklist was chosen. The tracker then keeps Imagen (24 tracks) for 2017 to 2020: songs it describes, in her words, as in line with K-12 but more personal — the road to the After School EP.

Portals and after

The Portals demos are in After School EP (38 tracks), as above. The newest era, HADES & ELYSIUM (2 tracks), holds what the tracker has from 2022 on, and little of it has surfaced yet.
