After Purple failed to release over the course of the previous 5 years, it evolved into a project that Travis deemed his magnum opus, Tree Colors. Ditching the specific color theme of previous albums while returning to the world-music influences that shaped the Green album along with the acoustic focus of Orange, Tree Colors explored a much more theatrical and ambitious sound.
- October 2007Days of the New enters a studio in New York and begins recording Tree Colors
- Early 2008Days of the New continues refining the album while playing new material live
- Late 2008The album misses it's planned release date of late 2008
- 2009Tree Colors misses another planned release window
- Late 2012Work on Tree Colors is put on hold and Days Of The New takes a 2 year long musical hiatus
