According to Ty, Anderson .Paak and Thundercat recorded their contributions to the track during a session at Anderson's studio in Los Angeles. Anderson played drums, Ty played keys, Thundercat played bass, and the three also recorded vocals for the song during this session. Ty also stated that Ali P "played on there" as well, although it is unknown what instruments he contributed. It is unconfirmed what the song was titled at the time, as the "Track 6" title was only adopted close to release, when it was placed on a tracklist. Thundercat posted an image of the three together, likely from this session, to Twitter on February 9th, 2019, captioned "On the dead loccs @tydollasign @AndersonPaak @Thundercat".
