After the 2012 release of Life Is Good, Nas announced in January 2013 that he was working on a new album. Time would pass with little-word on the project, until the 2014 remix to ScHoolboy Q's "Studio", where Nas rapped that he, "finished up [his] new album" - however, no album ever materialized. In March 2016, Kanye Tweeted that he "promised Obama Ima do beats on NAS' next album".
