Young Thug originally intended to drop his second album, "Punk", in late 2019, soon after the release of "So Much Fun". In contrast to his debut which he described as 'lighthearted,' "Punk" would be more personal and introspective. He also said that the album would reflect “real rap.” After releasing the deluxe to "So Much Fun", he announced that Punk would drop in February of 2020.
