On March 13, 2026 Don Toliver announced in an interview with Billboard at SXSW that he has begun working on his next album. Name of the album was confirmed to be named "NITROUS" on July 3rd when the @octanemountain account name was changed to @activate_nitrous. On August 13th a teaser for the album was posted to the account after August 11th was officially named 'Don Toliver Day' by the city of Houston.
