XCX emphasized that she was already working on her second album by the time true romance released, it was more inspired by punk and ye-ye pop, until 2014 where she changed the album's direction to be more pop, scrapping the whole concept and making new material which ended up becoming her second studio album "SUCKER", She also teased a "Punk EP" at that time which is speculated to be made with these sessions.
